Possible Risks associated with Lasik Laser Surgical Procedures

Millions of patients undergo blade or blade-free LASIK laser for the permanent vision correction with no pain, stitches or bandages. Apart from this, the Lasik laser is associated with high success rate, quick recovery and permanent vision correction.

Although LASIK laser is counted as one of the most successful refractive surgical procedures with 92% to 98% for vision correction but it has certain disadvantages also. It was reported in a study conducted at the Archives of Ophthalmology that there are about 1-2000 chances of losing vision due to injection in Lasik laser surgical procedures for people using contact lens.

As calculated by the researchers, about 1 in 10, 000 cases are at risk of losing their vision due to an infection caused as the consequence of Lasik laser eye surgery.  Formation of flaps and tissue ablation during post-Lasik laser surgical procedures may have caused “high order aberrations” vision problems in some patients. Due to recent advancement in Lasik laser surgical procedures, the risk of vision impairment after Lasik surgery has reduced significantly.

After the Lasik laser surgical procedures, some of the patients reported the problems of dry eyes, which can effectively develop into dry eye syndrome. It is temporary complications and can be effectively treated by using artificial tears. In some cases, the doctors recommend punctal occlusion and prescription tears, are used for the treatment of dry eye syndrome.

The starburst and halos around the bright light at night are also reported by some patients after Lasik laser refractive eye surgical procedures. Other complications such as flap complications are reported by some patients some of the Lasik laser surgical procedures. The chances of flap complication are about 0.244 percentages as per the certain reports and surveys. Late postoperative complications can be reported by post-LASIK laser surgical procedures.

The slipped flap is another complication reported by one of the recent surveys. Flap interface particles, diffuse lamellar keratitis, Post-LASIK corneal ectasia, and subconjunctival hemorrhage, are some of the other complications reported in some of the cases of post-LASIK operations. In addition to this, corneal scarring, epithelial ingrowths, and traumatic flap dislocations can be caused post Lasik laser surgical procedures.

The risk of all the Lasik laser complication is about 1 to 2 percentage of all the Lasik laser operations conducted across the world. Most of the complications can be avoided if Lasik laser is conducted under the supervision of expert surgeons at branded hospitals.

Lasik Treatment Delhi under the supervision of experienced Lasik doctor at leading hospitals is appreciated for its high success rate.

So the patients should not worry about some of the minor complications reported during Laser Eye Surgery in Delhi.
