Types of Lasik treatment and cases in which Lasik is not effective

Lasik is given to help a person to get rid of near sightedness, long sightedness and astigmatism.  Lasik can also reduce the need for prescription glass and contact lens.  There are different types of Lasik surgeries. All of Lasik surgeries involve the use of laser. The laser is used to treat the area below the corneal flap.

No two eyes are same. The doctor decides the correct surgery method for the patient based on eye examination. In wave front guided Lasik; the detail measurement of the curvature of the patient’s cornea is done. This is done to preserve the natural aspheric shape of an eye’s front surface. This help to reduce the spherical aberration that might happen with other Lasik refractive surgery

In the topography guided Lasik, the laser is programmed to address the problems of vision caused by scares of cornea and other abnormalities of the front surface of the eye.

In all laser Lasik, the laser is used to create the cornea flap unlike other Lasik surgeries, where the blade is used to create the flap. Here, the pulses of light are passed back and forth through eye to create the flap, and treat the surface beneath the flap .This type of Lasik gives accurate flap with uniform thickness.  This type of surgery is also called bladeless surgery, because the blade is not used to create the flap.

There are some cases in which the Lasik surgery of any kind may not prove effective. These cases can be severe cases of refractive error. In high level of near sightedness, long sightedness and astigmatism, Lasik may not provide full correct vision and surgeon cannot take the risk of surgery. Also the persons below 19 years of age are not given the Lasik treatment. This is because their vision is changing. Before the Lasik treatment, the vision should be stable at least for two years LASIK Eye Surgery Delhi before the person is given Lasik surgery. Dry eyes will take longer to heal after the surgery. The surgeon will decide the level of dryness of the eye and whether surgery can be conducted on the patient.

Any eye problem such as cataract, infection, advanced glaucoma, eye issues caused by diabetes can also affect the chances of having Lasik surgery. The people will large pupil can have some issue with vision after the Lasik surgery. These issues can range from double images, night glares, haloes and ghost images .The other problems like rheumatoid arthritis, multiple sclerosis, and vascular diseases Lasik Treatment Delhi can also affect the healing process after any Lasik surgery.  The people who are using antidepressant drugs or steroids may also see slow or ineffective recovery after Lasik surgery.

Patients must consult an expert surgeon before deciding for any surgery. The doctor will be in best position to decide the course of treatment for the patient.
